Andrew Foulds, Councillor for the Current River Ward, puts his passion for Thunder Bay and his leadership experience in teaching and sports to work for the residents of the Current River Ward and the City as a whole.
He is currently a teacher at Hillcrest High School. From 2002-2007 he was on the teaching staff at the now closed Port Arthur Collegiate Institute, the school he graduated from as an Ontario Scholar in 1991.
Prior to joining P.A.C.I., Councillor Foulds taught at Hammarskjold High School for four years following a year of teaching in Arctic Bay Nunavut (where he was also the Deputy Fire Chief). He gained leadership experience with the Teacher's Federation and at P.A.C.I, and chaired the Literacy Committee, was Chair of the Science department, and started a new breakfast program to improve nutrition and students' performance.
The eldest son of Jim and Judy Foulds, Councillor Foulds was born in 1972 at the Port Arthur General Hospital. He holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Physical and Environmental Geography from the University of Toronto (1996) and a Bachelor of Education degree from Queen's University (1997).
From an early age, he has been passionate about sports including soccer, baseball and, most especially, swimming. His longstanding involvement in swimming took him to provincial, national and international championships. Councillor Foulds continues to be actively involved in recreation activities.
He is married to fellow teacher Kristine Hildenand has three sons, Alex, Luke and Matthew.
