Paul Pugh is honoured to represent you as Councillor for the McKellar Ward and plans to put his experience to good use representing the residents of McKellar Ward and the City of Thunder Bay.
Employed as a welder at the Bombardier Thunder Bay plant since 1986, Councillor Pugh has also been President of the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) Local 1075, representing the workers at the Bombardier plant since 1999. Prior to working at Bombardier, he was employed at the Port Arthur Shipyard and at various industrial establishments in Kitchener-Waterloo. Throughout his adult life, he has been actively involved in the trade union movement, as well as with peace and social justice causes.
Councillor Pugh’s parents were missionaries and, born in 1947, in the Dominican Republic, he grew up in Uruguay and Brazil. His first language is Spanish, followed by English and Portuguese. He holds a BA (Economics) from Stanford University and an MA (Economics) from McMaster University.
Married to Evelina Pan since 1975, together they enjoy the outdoor activities of Northwestern Ontario, especially camping and canoeing.
Councillor Pugh is looking forward to working with the Mayor and Council to make Thunder Bay better for all residents.
