Children and Youth

The City of Thunder Bay has a variety of programs to enhance the lives of children and youth and is committed to the Thunder Bay Children's Charter.

Municipal Child Care

The City operates four Child Care Centres for children aged 18 months to 12 years and a Private Home Day Care program for children aged 6 weeks to 12 years, varied hours & days. To learn more about these centres and programs, visit the Children's Services Home Page.

Thunder Bay Children's Charter

The City of Thunder Bay is a member of the Children's Charter Coalition, which works to realize the goals of the Children's Charter. To learn more about the Charter, the City's role and to see annual reports, visit the Children's Charter Home Page.


AcTivities & Programs

The Recreation & Culture Division offers a wide range of recreational activities for children and youth from aquatic activities to playground programs, special events and much more. To find out more, check The Key published four times a year and delivered to city homes.  

For specific summer and after school programs such as Playgrounds, Chippewa Summer Camps, Instructional Skating, or Neighourhood Recreation Program (NRP), select a program from the drop down menu on the left hand side of this page.
