The Children's Charter Coalition was formed in 2003, and includes representatives from health, education, social services, and the community at large. A City Councillor is appointed for each term of council as a member of the Coalition to serve as the Children's Advocate for the City of Thunder Bay. The City of Thunder Bay adopted the Children's Charter in June 2004 and agreed to work with our community to realize the goals and objectives contained in it.
The individuals and organizations that volunteer their time to The Children's Charter Coalition are passionate about creating a community that puts the best interest of children first. The Thunder Bay Children's Charter was developed to state a vision for the children of Thunder Bay, based on the United Nations convention on the Rights of the Child.
Each year the Children's Charter Coalition produces a report to the community highlighting one of the rights described in the Charter. 'The purpose of the report is to:
