Playgrounds

Playgrounds is a FREE, inclusive, drop-in program for children ages 5 to 12. Playleaders are trained in first aid, arts & crafts, sports & games, behaviour management, inclusion and Healthy Child Development.

Choose to boost veggies & fruits, playgrounds addition

In partnership with Healthy Kids Community Challenge and Our Kids Count.

Busses will leave pick up location at 9:30am and go to Our Kids Count for healthy cooking activities as part of the Healthy Kids Community Challenge. The theme of the recipes that participants will be following will be fruit and veggie base. Participants will return to drop off location early afternoon and will have activities and games with Playgrounds staff. Please advise registration staff about any food restrictions or allergies.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

What do children do in the Playgrounds Program?
Children will enjoy a different theme every day! Days are packed with arts & crafts, sport & games and music & drama. Special guests drop by too! 

Should we bring a lunch? 
Children may return home for lunch or they can bring a NUT SAFE lunch to the park. Supervision between 12 noon and 1 pm is limited to reduced staff. 

What else should we pack?
Bring plenty of water, a NUT SAFE lunch (if the child is not returning home for lunch), a snack, athletic footwear, and a hat. Please make sure the child is wearing sunscreen before visiting the park.

Are staff trained?
All staff is trained in First Aid and the High Five quality assurance program. High Five supports the healthy development of children in recreation and sport.
