An E-Waste Collection Blitz will be occuring at Tbaytel location on Lithium Drive on Friday June 8 from 11 am to 6 pm and Sat. June 9 from 9 am to 4:pm. Proceeds from this collection of electronic components will benefit PRO Kids. See attachment of Acceptable Electronic Waste Items.
The date has been set for Friday Sept. 7 and the Mayor has called for the sun to shine over Strathcona Golf Course that day. Get your team together for this fun event where the rules of golf are more of a "guideline". PRO Kids is also looking for donations of merchandise and gift certificates for the Silent Auction. PRO Kids will be seeking a student to work for the months of May and June, full-time, 7 hours per day for 7 weeks. This position is dependant upon receiving grant funding. The student must be in College or University, returning to school in Sept. 2012. Primary project will include the development of the 2011 PRO Kids Annual report publication. Good research and communication skills required. A job description will be posted at a later date. The volunteer work available through P.R.O. Kids is mainly administrative and organizational. P.R.O. Kids facilitates placing children in community programs that are run by other organizations, but does not actually interact with the children we support.

Over half of the applications received in one year arrive in the fall. This is an especially busy time for the P.R.O. Kids Coordinator. Extra support is needed in order to place children into fall programs in a timely fashion. This is a short-term volunteer position involving 20 hours a week for four weeks beginning mid-August and ending in mid-September. Interested? Call 625-3212.
