district Hockey challenge - may 11, 12 & 13

"Applebees District Select AAA Challenge" will be held at Thunder Bay Tournament Centre and Current River Arena on May 11, 12 & 13, 2012.  Proceeds to PRO Kids.

PRO Kids at George Jeffrey soap box derby - June 2 & 3

Look for the PRO Kids Children's Activity Area located at the George Jeffrey Children's Centre Soap Box Derby being held on June 2 & 3 at Waverley Park.

E-Waste collection - June 8 & 9

An E-Waste Collection Blitz will be occuring at Tbaytel location on Lithium Drive on Friday June 8 from 11 am to 6 pm and Sat. June 9 from 9 am to 4:pm.  Proceeds from this collection of electronic components will benefit PRO Kids. See attachment of Acceptable Electronic Waste Items.

canada day glow sticks

Glow stick sales will occur on Canada Day at Marina Park. Come support PRO Kids. 

 

mayor's mulligan - Sept. 7, 2012

The date has been set for Friday Sept. 7 and the Mayor has called for the sun to shine over Strathcona Golf Course that day.  Get your team together for this fun event where the rules of golf are more of a "guideline". PRO Kids is also looking for donations of merchandise and gift certificates for the Silent Auction. Other sponsorship opportunities are also available. Contact PRO Kids at 625-3212.

Student Employment Opportunity: 

PRO Kids will be seeking a student to work for the months of May and June, full-time, 7 hours per day for 7 weeks. This position is dependant upon receiving grant funding. The student must be in College or University, returning to school in Sept. 2012. Primary project will include the development of the 2011 PRO Kids Annual report publication. Good research and communication skills required. A job description will be posted at a later date. For more information, contact Laura Daniele, PRO Kids Coordinator at (807) 625-3212 or email ldaniele@thunderbay.ca.
 

Recycle your Unwanted Cell Phones with tbaytel and Support P.R.O. Kids!

Bring your cell phone (operational or not) to one of the following locations for recycling:

  • TBayTel Store (959 Fort William Rd. - Thunder Centre)
  • The Power Centre (707 Memorial Ave.)
  • Touch Unwired (1080 Lithium Dr.)
  • Victoriaville Civic Centre, Community Services Department (111 Syndicate Ave. South, main floor)

    • P.R.O. Kids receives payment for all cell phones that are recycled through GreenTec.

    Volunteer Opportunities

    The volunteer work available through P.R.O. Kids is mainly administrative and organizational. P.R.O. Kids facilitates placing children in community programs that are run by other organizations, but does not actually interact with the children we support.

    Alternatively, if you like to help at events, contact the P.R.O. Kids Coordinator and put your name on the P.R.O. Kids Event Team list today!

    P.R.O. Kids Board of Directors

    The P.R.O. Kids Board Members are residents of the City of Thunder Bay and represent a wide range of interests and expertise. For more information, refer to the Board page.

    P.R.O. Kids Fundraising Committee

    This is a very active group that meets once a month. Members oversee fundraising through activities & events, dress-down days, merchandise sales, and direct approaches, as well as grants and funding opportunities. New members are welcome at any time during the year. Interested? Call 625-3212.

    Fall Placement Support

    Over half of the applications received in one year arrive in the fall. This is an especially busy time for the P.R.O. Kids Coordinator. Extra support is needed in order to place children into fall programs in a timely fashion. This is a short-term volunteer position involving 20 hours a week for four weeks beginning mid-August and ending in mid-September. Interested? Call 625-3212.

    Event Planning

    On occasion, larger-scale events are scheduled, and the P.R.O. Kids Coordinator requires additional support. These are short-term contracts relating to one specific event (e.g., Family Skating Events, Mayor’s Mulligan). Interested in helping? Call 625-3212.
