Heritage
The City of Thunder Bay Archives preserves City records of permanent significance including many records from the former Cities of Fort William and Port Arthur that date from as early as 1884. The permanent records held by the City Archives are available for use by the general public. The City supports the preservation of our heritage through assistance to such organizations as the Thunder Bay Historical Museum Society, the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame and the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee (a committee responsible for the identification, review and designation of built heritage within the City of Thunder Bay). The Thunder Bay Historical Museum Society collects, preserves and exhibits artifacts of significance to this area and also maintains an archives available to the public on a request basis. Visit the
Thunder Bay Walking Tours website.
