Home-Based Businesses
The City of Thunder Bay Zoning By-law defines a 'home-based business' as a business conducted within a dwelling unit or a building or structure accessory to a dwelling unit. There are three types of home-based businesses: Private Home Day Care; Bed and Breakfast; Home Occupation.
A home-based business is permitted in all zones that permit a dwelling unit. The Zoning By-law contains regulations that apply to home-based business occupations. Anyone operating or considering a home-based business should consult with the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission's Thunder Bay and District Entrepreneur Centre.
