Public facilities
The City's Recreation & Culture Division offers public swims, learn-to-swim classes and other programs at Churchill and Volunteer pools. Private lessons are also available. A fee is paid on registration. In season, the Division operates three outdoor swimming pools and provides supervision and programming at Boulevard Lake and Chippewa Park Beach. Volunteer Pool

Private FACILITIES
The Zoning By-law regulates the location of in-ground and above-ground swimming pools and any related filters, pumps or similar operating equipment. The Pool Fence By-law specifies that a fence must be erected and maintained around a swimming pool having a depth of more than 24". The Pool Fence By-law sets out the standards for the construction and maintenance of pool fences and gates in pool fences. A permit must be obtained prior to excavating or erecting a swimming pool and prior to erecting the pool fence. The pool fence must be constructed and approved by an inspector from the Building Division before water is put into the pool.
