The City of Thunder Bay has a rich history and heritage and is home to a wide variety of cultural facilities, organizations, businesses, events, works of art, heritage buildings and sites, and individual artists. These assets are a vital part of civic pride and identity and need to be celebrated, preserved and developed.
From our long-standing museums and galleries, professional theatre company, and internationally renowned symphony orchestra, to our skilled local musicians, individual artists and grassroots cultural groups, it is important for the City and Citizens of Thunder Bay to be aware of and understand the scope and value of our cultural sector. With this knowledge as our starting point, we will have the tools we need to plan for and develop our cultural resources.
