Environment
Superior by Nature
Located on the shores of the world's largest freshwater lake, Thunder Bay lies within a spectacular natural environment. Clean air, clear lakes, beautiful forest ecosystems, and wildlife all make Thunder Bay a wonderful place to live, work, and enjoy the outdoors. In order to ensure our environmental resources can be enjoyed both today and for generations to come, the City of Thunder Bay seeks sustainable solutions to create a clean, green, beautiful and proud city. The Transportation and Works Department oversees most operations within the Corporation that relate to the environment.
Clean, Green, Beautiful, and Proud
Creating a cleaner, greener, more beautiful and proud Thunder Bay is one of the City's four strategic priorities, which a Clean, Green, Beautiful and Proud Committee works towards.
