Adopt-a-Road

Adopt-a-Road SignThe City of Thunder Bay, Infrastructure & Operations Department’s Adopt-a-Road Program is a public service initiative designed to help keep the right-of-way portion of City roadways free of litter. Environmentally conscious citizens, community and civic organizations, private businesses and industries volunteer their time to contribute personally toward a cleaner, greener and more beautiful Thunder Bay.

What’s Involved?
Under the program, groups or individuals agree to “adopt” a specific section of road and pick up litter a minimum of two or three times each year. The City provides an annual safety training session, traffic cones and flags, road work signs, waste and recycling collection bags, safety vests and gloves. The City also erects a sign on the adopted road to acknowledge the efforts of the participating groups and individuals.
