Community Environmental Action Plan

Work on the Community Environmental Action Plan (CEAP) began in 2004. After countless volunteer hours from all sectors of our community - residential, industrial, commercial, and institutional - the completed CEAP was presented to City Council in October 2008. The CEAP is a living document, with the City and Community working towards its implementation since October 2008. Today the implementation of the CEAP is recognized as a major strategic initiative of City Council, through their 2011-2014 Strategic Plan - Goal 10.

Currently work is underway on a new draft version of the CEAP, with a timeframe of 2014-2020. Public consultation on the draft will begin in early 2014.

The purpose of the CEAP is to help promote a sustainable, healthy community. The development of the CEAP also supports a number of resolutions already passed by Council with the end goal of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within the City of Thunder Bay.

EarthCare Thunder Bay is always looking for public input and involvement. Please take a look through the CEAP - it includes actions for both the Corporation of the City of Thunder Bay and the community at large, while providing tips and ideas in each section about what you can do at home. The CEAP is instrumental in delivering a healthy biophysical and socioeconomic environment to the citizens of Thunder Bay and creating a more comprehensive, systems-oriented framework for municipal operations. We invite everyone to get involved!
