Power Pledge

Power Pledge LogoTake the Power Pledge, and Help Make Thunder Bay One of Ontario's Leading Conservation-Conscious Communities!!

The Ontario Power Authority has revised its energy conservation program this year with the launch of the Power Pledge on April 7, and the Community Challenge on April 20. Thunder Bay can compete in two categories:
1) The largest percent reduction in power use, to be measured on August 11;
2) The largest per-capita participation rate in signing on to the Power Pledge.

What is The Power Pledge?
The Power Pledge is your commitment to take simple conservation actions that can help you save money, save electricity and help the environment. It involves visiting the Power Pledge site, and signing on to 6 different meaningful actions, and then putting them into action in your life!

What does the Power Pledge have to do with EarthWise?
The EarthWise Energy Working Group is promoting the Power Pledge Community Challenge in Thunder Bay. The Energy Working Group has participation from the City of Thunder Bay, Thunder Bay Hydro, Ontario Power Generation, Lakehead University, EcoSuperior, Environment North, and the Superior Renewable Energy Cooperative.

What kind of rewards do I get by taking the pledge?
The first 150,000 participants earn 20 AIR MILES® reward miles, plus a donation of 10 extra reward miles to a participating charity of your choice like WWF-Canada. And you can save up to 15 per cent of electricity in your home and help create a better planet for your kids.
