2011 Go Green Expo Archive

Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario residents attended the second Annual Go Green Expo on Oct. 1, 2011. The event featured a free Exhibition in the Coliseum from 8:30am - 4:30pm, including an Interactive Kid's Eco-Zone, as well as three workshops, and a Keynote Address by Betsy Rosenberg and local foods lunch, catered by Grinning Belly Catering

With tips on everything from how to make your home or business more eco-friendly and presentations from local eco-heroes, the Expo offered something for everyone interested in making changes, both big and small, to reduce their carbon footprint and help the environment.

2011 KEYNOTE "How To Green Your Routine And Why It Matters!"
Betsy Rosenberg

Betsy Rosenberg

Our climate is changing, natural resources are dwindling, and worldwide population and consumption are on the rise. What's an earth-loving person to do? How can we lead productive and satisfying lives while providing for a sustainable future? Why do personal choices make a critical difference but still do not add up to enough impact alone?

Longtime Environmental Radio Host and Producer, Betsy Rosenberg, shared highlights from her 15-year effort to bring green content and consciousness to the U.S. media market and public, and as well as her favorite eco-tips!
Betsy is an award-winning national broadcast journalist and a green media trailblazer. With 25 years of radio news experience and a track record as a social visionary, Ms. Rosenberg has earned the distinction of being an award-winning news veteran, popular environmental talk show host, and dedicated activist for positive change.

Ms. Rosenberg worked as a CBS radio journalist for two decades. On Earth Day 1997, Betsy launched TrashTalk, a green feature on KCBS, becoming the first mainstream commercial broadcaster to recognize the need to use mass media outlets to communicate the urgency and complexities of growing ecological challenges to the American public. In 2004, Betsy took EcoTalk from green minutes to an hour-long interview format. The program was the nation’s first syndicated green-focused show on commercial radio and went on to become the only such program to air in a prime-time daily slot. EcoTalk was heard exclusively on Air America Radio until May 2007, when Betsy left the network to pursue wider distribution on mainstream channels. In 2009 Betsy launched The Green Front. The program currently airs on The Progressive Radio Network and is archived at www.thegreenfront.com.

In addition to being a wife and mother, Betsy speaks across the country and attends many of the most important environmental and climate conferences. She is the recipient of more than a dozen awards for her news and environmental reporting at the local and national level. Ms. Rosenberg walks the eco talk by driving a hybrid vehicle (since 2002), recycling, composting, and volunteering in her local Marin County community to increase awareness about the need to think globally and act locally.
