Soil compaction affects trees

soil compactedSoil compaction occurs when vehicles or heavy equipment are placed or travel under the crown of a tree. As a result air pockets in the ground are eliminated and this reduces the availability of air and water that trees need to stay healthy. Roots in compacted soil are unable to supply these essential elements to the rest of the tree, resulting in the tree becoming stressed and declining in health.
