Thunder Bay Transit has installed bike racks on all buses so that cyclists can take their bikes with them. These bike racks hold up to two bikes on each bus. The racks are designed for easy loading and unloading and are available on a first come, first serve basis. You pay your regular fare, but your bike rides free.
Bikes can be loaded at any time of day. During peak periods, if the rack is full, you have to wait for the next bus.
Everyone. Children 12 years of age or under must be accompanied by an adult in order to use the bike racks.
Conventional two-wheeled bicycles are allowed on the bike racks (wheels at least 41 cm). Tricycles and motorized bicycles are not permitted, nor are bikes with child carriers or trailers.
Visit the Loading and Unloading Your Bike webpage for directions.
The City of Thunder Bay is not responsible for damages incurred or caused by bicycles or their owners when using the transit bicycle racks.
NOTE: Bicycles that are left on a bus remain at the Transit Main Office, 570 Fort William Road for a period of 3 days. After that time, they are taken to the Balmoral Street Police Station.
