Bus Charters and Group Bookings

Are you planning to take a group of people for a tour, special outing, or to an event this year? Consider chartering a bus from Thunder Bay Transit. Our professional, friendly drivers will take your group to any location in the Thunder Bay city limits. 
 

Transit charter Information

  • Charters are booked on a first come, first served basis and based on availability
  • All buses are low floor, accessible
  • Charter rate is $115 per hour + HST
  • There is a minimum charge of 3 hours

limitations

  • We will not accommodate pub crawls
  • We will not start a new charter after 11pm
  • Trip duration is not to exceed 15 hours from the time of departure
  • All charters are based on bus and staff availability. Please book well in advance

Booking procedure

  1. Fill out a Charter Request Form a minimum of two (2) weeks prior to the date of your charter and fax, mail, email or deliver it to the Thunder Bay Transit Office. Please ensure when requesting a bus that the information you are supplying is complete and accurate.

  2. Once received, your request will be reviewed by transit staff to ensure both bus and staff availability. If your request can be accommodated, Transit will generate a "Quote Only" form which will be faxed, mailed or emailed to you.
  3. Carefully review the "Quote Only" form for accuracy. If satisfied, please date, sign and return it to the Transit office. Please keep a copy for your records. If this form is not signed and returned, your booking will not be made. Once returned, Transit will consider the booking confirmed and our Charter Booking, Changes and Cancellation Policy will apply.

billing procedure

After your booking is approved, Transit will require pre-payment for the services to be provided based on your quote. Please remember that your quote is a quote only and is based on the services you requested. If additional services are provided, you will be billed after the charter date accordingly.

All Charters must be paid at least forty eight (48) hours prior to the date of the Charter. You may pay by cheque, cash, debit or credit at the Tranist office. A $35 fee will apply to all NSF cheques.

cancellation and changes

  1. Any changes to your booking or cancellations must be made to Transit at least seventy two (72) hours prior to your Charter. The Change/Cancellation Form must be submitted outlining your requirements.

  2. A $65 administration fee will be charged for cancellations with less than forty eight (48) hours notice.
  3. Cancellations or no shows on the day of the booking will result in a two (2) hour call out charge of $115 for each bus, unless cancellation is weather related.
  4. If you need to speak to someone regarding your Charter, please call our office at (807) 684-3744 (press 0) Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30 pm. If you need to leave a message outside those hours, please call our after hours voice mail at (807) 684-3599 and leave your name, the Charter information and a number you may be reached at. Note that the Transit office is closed on weekends and statutory holidays.

educational FACILITIES & DAYCARE TRAVEL REQUESTS

Transit offers the opportunity for youth to experience and learn how to ride transit while providing access to educational facilities such as libraries, museums and art galleries throughout the City.  Arrangements to travel under this program must be made one (1) week in advance of the date of travel.
