Foundation Plan Drawing Requirements
If the foundation is slab on grade or non-standard construction, you must submit a professionally engineered, stamped design.
Use the following checklist to ensure your foundation plan is complete. A sample foundation plan is shown below.
The foundation plan must show, as a minimum (other features not listed here should also be identified):
- Project location
- Designer’s name and Building Code Identification Number (BCIN), if applicable
- Scale of drawings
- Cross-section symbol
- Exterior walls
- Exterior dimensions
- Interior dimensions
- Structural members and lintels, including sizes, materials, and lengths
- Perimeter/interior footings
- Existing attached structures
- Interior column pads
- Interior partitions
- Room sizes and names
- Door sizes and locations
- Window sizes and locations
- Heating appliances
- Fireplace or woodstove location
- Plumbing fixtures
- Bathroom fans
- Sump pit and pump
- Weeping tiles
- Smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detectors
