Grandview Lodge

Grandview Lodge opened in 1959 in Fort William.  There is now a capacity for 150 residents. Grandview Lodge became an accredited facility in 1978 and has maintained that status ever since.  As a result, people applying to live here can be assured of a high quality of health care, as well as a high quality of life.

The Thunder Bay Homes are funded by the Ministry of Health Long Term Care, the City of Thunder Bay and resident revenues. Thunder Bay City Council acts as our Board of Directors and frequent reports are sent to them for information, approval and/or direction. They are accountable to the citizens of Thunder Bay for the services provided by the City Homes

Features of Our Home

• Our Home is a two story facility housing 150 residents
• The home is divided into 6 home areas providing individualized plans of care for diverse needs of our population
• A south patio leads to large park-like grounds and there is an additional back patio area.  The grounds border the Soroptomist International Friendship Gardens.
• A chapel provides a variety of worship services.
• There are lounge areas throughout the building and large auditorium for activities.
• A smoking lounge is provided for benefit and safety of those residents who smoke.
• We are located close to a main bus route.

Residents' Council

Residents’ Council provides opportunities for residents to have a voice in how their Home operates. There are monthly meetings with an elected executive.
