Silver Sound Choir

Silver Sound is a three-part mixed choir of men and women 55 years of age and over. It was established in 2006 as an activity of the Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre. No singing audition is required to join the choir, only the age requirement of 55 years or older. The ability to read music is helpful but not necessary.

Rehearsal space is provided at the Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre on River Street. The choir director and accompanist for Silver Sound Choir volunteer their time (and have lots of fun in the process).

The choir meets once weekly from mid-September to mid-December for Session 1, and from January to the middle of May for Session 2. Rehearsal time is Thursdays, 10:15 am to 12 pm. A fee of $25.00 is requested on the first rehearsal of each session to cover the costs of original music scores in keeping with copyright law and other general choir expenses. We take part in fund raising projects to benefit the Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre throughout the performance year.

Silver Sound shares the music it learns by presenting short concerts at retirement residences, long-term care facilities and other senior audiences. Concerts are presented at the Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre both at Christmas and in May each year. Choir members are requested to refrain from wearing scents in keeping with the Scent-Free policy of the Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre.
