How To Register

Registration is quick and easy. You can register for Older Adult programs by telephone, or in-person. You can also get support if you are a person with a disability who would like to participate. For all other general registration information see below.

The hotline operates 24 hours a day. If a registration agent is not available, your call will be forwarded to a voice mail machine. Payment is required at the time of registration.

To register by telephone you will need:

  • Course name and code number
  • The name of the registrant
  • Address and postal code
  • Registrant's date of birth
  • Phone numbers (day and evening if different)
  • Emergency contact information
  • Visa or MasterCard number and expiry date

Recreation should be available and accessible for people of all ages and abilities. Information and support is provided to assist people with a disability to participate in recreation activities. For more information call 625-2930 or the TTY Relay Service at 711. Audio cassette recordings of Recreation & Culture programs listed in The Key are available by calling 625-2930.


Most programs have limited registration done on a first-come basis. Payment in full, must accompany registration.

It is our belief that you will enjoy your program with the Older Adult Unit, but if the program does not meet your needs, please refer to our refund policy.

Refund Policy

Credit on Account: issued when a participant withdraws from a program and chooses to leave the credit on their personal account to use towards another registered program (at a later date) or towards the purchase of a punch card.

Full Refund: (will only be issued for the following reasons): If a participant is withdrawing before the first 2 classes; or if the class has been cancelled; then a full refund will be issued using the original method of payment. if registration was paid for using a credit card, a refund will be issued back to the same credit card and can take up to 2 weeks to process. If a registration was paid using cash, cheque or debit, the refund will be in the form of a cheque from the City of Thunder Bay and it can take approximately 2-3 weeks to process.

No Refunds will be issued if the withdrawal brings the number of people in the class below the minimum number needed to run the class.
No Refunds will be issued for Punch Cards that have been used.

Confirmation of Enrolment

Once you are registered, you will not hear from us. Simply attend the first class. Receipts will be given with in-person registrations. Receipts will be available from the instructors at the first class if you register by telephone. If you registered on the Hot Line receipts will not be available at the Centre.


The Older Adult Unit has a policy to assist people who wish to participate in its instructional programs. If you require assistance with program fees, you must contact the Program & Marketing Coordinator, Older Adult Unit, 684-2795, prior to registration. This policy only applies to registered programs directly administered by the Older Adult Unit.
