Public Safety
A high quality of life, with safe neighbourhoods, is a priority for the City of Thunder Bay. A number of services work together to protect public safety:
Fire Rescue Service
The Thunder Bay Fire Rescue provides the City and Region with highly trained emergency service. The department is capable of handling a range of emergencies and hazardous situations from eight stations. Visit the Fire Home Page for information on fire permits, emergency plans, news and recruitment.
Police Service
Funded by the City of Thunder Bay, the Thunder Bay Police Service operates under the general governance of the Police Services Board. Superior North EMS
Superior North EMS, a division of the City of Thunder Bay, provides emergency medical care throughout the District of Thunder Bay, including all communities from Upsala to Manitouwadge and Longlac. Paramedics are posted to 17 stations in 15 communities and operate a fleet of 45 emergency vehicles. Visit the Superior North EMS website for information about services, news and recruitment.
