Lorna Olson has made outstanding volunteer contributions as Chair of the Friends of the Animals Group since its inception in 2001. She assists in the coordination and hosting of the annual microchip-a-thon. The proceeds of this event are directed to the City’s Spay and Neuter program and the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society. Lorna helps to organize and host open-house events at the City’s Animal Services Centre and helps promote responsible pet ownership. She coordinates and participates in annual park clean-ups and annual Christmas for the Animals Campaign and Christmas Parade. Lorna is the Volunteer Leader in the City’s Animal Services Volunteer Program, where she coordinates, schedules and participates in the recruitment, training and overseeing of volunteers. She also volunteers her time and talents at the seniors’ homes, playing the piano and singing. Lorna’s hard work, commitment to animals and dedication to volunteerism are worthy of recognition.
