Michael Chochla Sr. has been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1964. Upon retiring from an educational profession he moved to Thunder Bay in 1986 and joined the Leo Council 1130. Soon after, he took on the position of recording secretary - a position he still holds with the Council. Michael has worked tirelessly in many of the Council’s charitable activities including spearheading the Council’s involvement in Benny Birch Birthday Party, organizing workers for the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign, helping with the annual Provincial Arthritis Car Draw, organizing the clean the highway project, and chairing the Council’s Centennial Celebration held in June 2007. Michael’s understanding and caring has made the organization grow in its work of charity in the community.
