Ellen Liman

To the school children in Thunder Bay, Ellen Liman is “the UNICEF lady”. She began volunteering in 1990, and since 1998 has coordinated all local UNICEF programs including the Halloween campaign. Each year, Ellen donates countless hours to organizing the campaign which involves 4,000 children and has raised over $250,000.00 in ten years. Ellen’s lasting contribution to local children is in her role as an educator. She helps children understand that they have the power to improve life for children in the developing world who lack the very basics for survival. In June 2008, Ellen was one of six persons from across Canada to be presented with the UNICEF Canada Service award recognizing her exceptional support for UNICEF.
