Hefinwen (Fin) Sellick

Six organizations benefit from Fin’s passionate commitment to volunteer service in our community. Fin began volunteering with Port Arthur General Hospital and has continued her work at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. She has volunteered a total of 50 years in our hospitals. Fin also shares her time with Telecare Thunder Bay, Nurses Alumni of the Port Arthur General Hospital, Baptist Women of Ontario and Quebec and Northwestern Ontario Student Leadership Conferences and Northwestern Ontario Youth Conferences. Over the years, Fin has been recognized for her services on a variety of volunteer boards. On April 5, 1993, she was awarded the “Bruce McDougall Award”, the highest award by the Telecare Ministries of Canada, in appreciation of dedicated service in “Telecare Thunder Bay”. While most of her volunteering has been in the health care field, Fin has also found time to sing in her church choir for 64 years in the Thunder Bay Symphony Chorus since their founding in 1974. With her extensive volunteer service, Fin is truly deserving of the Spirit of Thunder Bay Award.
