Mark Merrifield is a passionate young man with a strong sense of civic duty. He has been involved in the army reserves for approximately two years as a Mobile Support Equipment Operator with the 18 (Thunder Bay) Service Battalion. Through his dedication and training, Mark has excelled as a part-time soldier. Mark honours his country with his voluntary military service.

Mark also volunteers at Loch Lomond with Canadian Ski Patrol where he provides first aid to injured skiers on the hills. He has also been involved with the Habitat for Humanity two-week home build. His volunteerism continues for the Thunder Bay Agriplex where he assists in fund-raising events and as a volunteer scorer for Lakehead University’s wrestling team.

Mark’s commitment to community and country make him truly worthy of the City of Thunder Bay Youth Award.
