Kathy Van Vliet (In Memoriam)

Kathy was a volunteer with the Children's Aid Society of the District of Thunder Bay for the past 10 years.  She contributed over 423 hours of service with the Christmas programs, assisting with hamper deliveries and as a special friend volunteer for the agency.  During the holiday events it was not unusual to see Kathy volunteering long days and into the evenings assisting with last minute deliveries, picking up gifts and donations and assisting with last minute shopping for the families and children.  Kathy brought a passion to her volunteer work that was contagious and affected all who worked with her.  Kathy also sat on the Volunteer Advisory Board assisting with planning volunteer recognition events, ways to improve service to the families and suggesting new programs.  Kathy also volunteered with several organizations in the City of Thunder Bay including VCARS (Victim Crisis Assistance & Referral Service), Shelter House, Ishaawin Family Resource Centre, and at her church New Life Christian Fellowship assisting with soup kitchens, hospitality committee and serving at the hot breakfast program.  Kathy was an inspirational volunteer, dedicated to helping others and improving their quality of life.
