Kayla Berst

Kayla has demonstrated exceptional volunteer contributions to this community.  She is currently a third year Honours Bachelor of Science student at Lakehead University with a goal of pursuing a career as a physician.  Some of her volunteer contributions include her current association with the TBRHSC (emergency room liaison) and as part of the provincial Stroke Recovery Patient Liaison Program.  Recently, Kayla received a "Walk the Talk" award from the hospital for her exceptional volunteer contributions.  At Lakehead University, Kayla participates in province wide research and program evaluations and promotes a campus campaign which aims to reduce smoking rates and increase tobacco awareness among fellow students.  With the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, she coordinated numerous youth activities throughout the community that involved tobacco free initiatives.  With her demonstrated commitment and passion for volunteering, Kayla is a worthy recipient of the Citizens of Exceptional Achievement Youth Award.
