For children

connect the dots

Give your children a gift of staying connected to our natural world. Our program for 0-4 year-olds (Sprouting Seeds Forest School) runs on Mondays and our program for 4-10 year-olds (Branches Forest School) operates on Tuesdays - see below for more information. or

Sprouting Seeds Forest School - 0-4 years (but all ages welcome)

When: Mondays 10:00 am -11:30 am
Where: Baggage Building Arts Centre (upper mezzanine)

In this drop-in program, children will have opportunities to learn new skills through play-based learning. They will participate with their parents in various hands on activities that will be unique, educational and fun! There may be some interactive presentations - such as Local Authors, Yoga, Nursery Rhymes and Musicians. Afterwards, the families will have opportunities explore at natural play-based stations. An activity might be finding the letters of their name written on stones in a sand table. Activities will be planned using the Ontario Kindergarten Curriculum and Waldorf, Montessori and Reggio Emilia inspired ideas. The station activities will be constantly changing, they will all be educational and promote a love for our environment. We will celebrate each program with a field trip outdoors.

Cost: A donation of $10 per Monday is suggested, to keep the program sustainable.

Roots & branches forest school (4-10 years)

When: Tuesdays 9:15 am - 3:00 pm
Where: Baggage Building Arts Centre (upper mezzanine)

Roots & Branches Forest School is a nature-based learning program with two locations - on Tuesdays (Branches), we're based in the Baggage Building Arts Centre at Marina Park and on Thursdays (Roots), we're based at Willow Springs Creative Centre.

Roots and Branches is a community based educational forest school program that focuses on self-awareness and mindfulness all while embracing our natural environment. It aims to help children become confident and learn strategies to help them selves whenever needed. Roots and Branches (working with Forest School Canada) embraces an emergent curriculum where students lead their own learning. The program uses play and self-inquiry projects to inspire learning where students may use creativity, literacy, math, social studies and science skills to problem solve. They will participate in mindfulness activities, outdoor exploration, creative art projects and do meaningful chores to build on community togetherness and encourage a love for our environment. The program will look at building 8 life skills including self-esteem, positive visualization, big emotions (emotional and stress management), relaxation, happy healthy living, positive thinking, positive relationships and dreaming big (achieving and believing). Connect The Dots inspires to offer education where children will be empowered. We would like to help children make strong connections with the earth, themselves and others, have adequate time to learn, use their artistic skills, value these skills and become confident and proud of who they are.

Registration is generally paid once per Session (Session 1: October-December, Session 2: January-March and Session 3: April-June), but drop-ins are welcome if there is room. Early/Late drop off and pick up are available. Email to reserve your spot - or visit for more information!
