235 Vickers Street North
Year Built: 1958
This two-storey concrete block building, designed by McIntosh & Associates, was constructed for Fort William Hydro in 1958. Following amalgamation in 1970, the building was taken over by the new City of Thunder Bay and was occupied by the Telephone Department. During the early 1980's, the City Clerk’s Department commenced storing inactive records in the building. By 1988, City Clerk’s had taken sole possession of the building and undertook extensive renovations in order to provide appropriate storage for records. These renovations included the installation of shelving on the second floor, along with environmental controls and a halon fire suppression system. Further renovations, involving the installation of shelving and the construction of offices on the first floor, were carried out in 1992.
