Festivals & Events Ontario Annual Conference
Mar. 1-3, 2012
Niagara Falls, Ontario
For details go to www.festivalsandeventsontario.ca
Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO) is proud to announce the first of many education sessions for the 2012 Beyond Borders Conference at the Sheraton on the Falls, Niagara Falls on March 1-3, 2012. As a part of FEO’s commitment to its members and the festivals and events industry across Ontario, these education sessions will cover two of the most requested speaking topics in the industry: crisis management and grant and award programs.

New this year, Beyond Borders will kick-off for regular delegates at 1 pm on Thursday, March 1, 2012. In order to allow all delegates to attend these popular education sessions they will be the only sessions running on Thursday afternoon and will be presented back to back. These highly anticipated panels carry value for all festivals and events, discussing how to handle two equally unpredictable aspects of running a festival or event.

At 1 pm, the conference begins with Crisis Management 101: Creating and Implementing Your Emergency Management Plan. This education session will discuss everything from inclement weather, riots, medical emergencies, unpredictable performing artists, security issues and structural collapse and how to handle them at a festival or event.  An expert panel from various backgrounds will discuss these and other unanticipated situations and the importance of having an emergency plan and team ready, should they be required.

This will be followed at 2:45 pm by the most requested education session in the industry, Festivals & Events Grant and Award Programs – Insights from the Organizers. Recognition is an important mandate for a festival or event, whether it is financial through Celebrate Ontario, Trillium, TEMPP, OCAF, Ontario Arts Council and Canadian Heritage or through the annual FEO TOP 100 Festivals & Events in Ontario or other related industry recognition award programs. Delegates will hear first hand what representatives from these organizations are able to share with you about how to apply for their grants or awards.

Registration for the 2012 Beyond Borders Conference has already begun and Early Bird rates end Jan. 16, 2012.
