Thunder Bay showed its Olympic Spirit as the City welcomed the Olympic Flame for Day 66 of the cross-country Relay toward the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Residents braved freezing temperatures to line the route on Jan. 3 and show support for our local torchbearers. Energy was high inside the Community Auditorium as Thunder Bay's own Olympic Gold Medalist Katie Weatherston, lit Thunder Bay's Olympic Cauldron at the Community Celebration. Following are highlights from the Relay and Community Celebration. View photo gallery
Due to freezing temperatures, the Olympic Torch Relay Community Celebration on Sunday, Jan. 3, has been moved inside the Community Auditorium. Because there is now parking onsite at the Community Auditorium, there will not be shuttles from Intercity Mall and Lakehead University.
Seating is limited and is on a first come, first served basis. All scheduled activities and the fireworks display will proceed as planned.
Residents are encouraged to line the Torch Relay Route to show support for the Torchbearers.
