 Celebrating the 6th Annual Winter Fundays program at Prince Arthur's Landing!

Every Sunday from December 31, 2017 - March 11, 2018, embrace winter by taking part in a different fun outdoor activity for FREE. And after you've enjoyed the Winter Funday activity outside, you can warm up with a creative activity inside the Baggage Building Arts Centre!

Winter Fundays hours are 2 - 4 pm, unless otherwise noted. Schedule is subject to change in situations of extreme weather.

Presenting sponsors for Winter Fundays are Rock 94 and 91.5 CKPR.

December 31  Skating Party
Thunder Bay Skating Academy Logo
Join the Thunder Bay Skating Academy for a fun filled afternoon of skating on the shores of Lake Superior at the first Winter Funday of the season! There will be Learn to Skate demonstrations, a table to register for lessons, and FREE family skating. Winter Fundays kick off with an afternoon of fun! 
**Note that the Baggage Building Arts Centre will be closed on December 31. Creative activities will resume January 7 and continue through all of the other Winter Fundays. 
January 7  Winter Treasure Hunt
Willow Springs Creative Centre
Join the staff of Willow Springs Creative Centre for a Winter Treasure Hunt! Solve clues to discover treasures hidden throughout the Marina area.  
January  14 Snowshoeing 

Essential winter gear for thousands of years, snowshoes are an iconic part of this area's winter landscape. Try traditional wood-and-leather snowshoes or, for kids, contemporary aluminum-frame snowshoes - and make your way around Prince Arthur's Landing in a whole new way.

January 21 FIS World Snow Day
World Snow Day

Created by the Fédération Internationale de Ski/International Ski Federation, World Snow Day is a celebration of all things snow around the world simultaneously. In short, World Snow Day is the biggest day on snow all year!

Come down to Marina Park to play snow games with Children and Youth, and discover how much fun winter can be!

January 28 Dogsledding                                                                    12 pm-4 pm
Boreal Journeys

Join Boreal Journeys Sled Dog Kennel for a scenic dogsled ride along the shores of beautiful Lake Superior! Well you wait meet their team of sled dogs, learn about the history of dogsledding and how it is still used as a mode of transportation today.

February 4  Snow Painting

Snow Painting bottles

Help add colour to Pier 2 at Prince Arthur's Landing with snow paint. Bring your creative side and draw pictures, create abstract designs, or add a few flowers to the blank snow canvas. 
February 11 Thunderwolves Day on the Waterfront
Lakehead University Thunderwolves logo  Come for a skate with the Lakehead University Thunderwolves men's hockey team on the rink at Prince Arthur's Landing! Get some hockey tips - then warm up with a FREE hot chocolate or coffee from the Tim Hortons Coffee Truck and try a creative activity in the Baggage Building Arts Centre!

Rainbow Ice Sculptures
Rainbow Ice Sculptures are back, join us in adding a little extra colour to the waterfront for SnowDay 2018! Reminder that your mitts may become wet during your creative process, it is recommended you bring an extra pair for this activity.
February 25  Bannock over the Fire

Join the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre for Bannock over the Fire. Learn how to make this delicious treat and then cook it over the fire!

March 4 Cabane à sucre (Sugar Shack) 
Club Canadien Français de Thunder Bay 

Come and join the Club Canadien Français de Thunder Bay on March 5 to sample maple syrup toffee at the Sugar Shack.

March 11  Winter Science with Science North
Science North Thunder Bay  Winter is a time of crystals - from icicles to snowflakes to frost on the window. Join Science North to learn how these crystals are formed and about other cool winter facts!
