IMPROVEMENTS to City GOLF COURSES
Chapples Clubhouse
All exterior windows have been replaced and the exterior of the clubhouse was finished in the fall of 2009.
Golfers will see a few changes this spring to holes #11 and #17. During the summer of 2009, our staff conducted a study to determine the number of errant golf balls landing over the net on Balmoral Avenue. After the conclusion of the study it was determined that something needed to be done. In the fall of 2009, #17 hole was shortened to become a par 3 measuring approximately 160 yards for the men and 110 yards for the ladies. In order to keep the total yardage and par the same for the course, #11 hole was lenghtened to become a par 5. This change may just provide some additional excitement with a second par 3 on the back side and two par 5s to start off. Completion of the tee boxes with new turf will start this spring.
Strathcona Clubhouse
A new ramp was installed in 2009 to ensure that the upper level of the clubhouse and deck are wheelchair accessible.
Strathcona Irrigation
Ful-Flo Industries of Winnipeg Manitoba completed the irrigation project at the golf course with all 18 holes fully irrigated by September 2009.
