Programs By Age - Children (0-12)

The Recreation & Culture Division is proud to offer a wide range of activities and programs for children, including: 

Chippewa Summer Camps - week-long camps are offered during July and August for children aged 5 and up.  

Community Centres - Some community centres offer programs for children and parents. Contact a community centre near you. 

March Break Madness - Activities including sports, arts, cooking and more are offered during March Break for children.  

Events - During the summer, family-friendly events are held including the Kite Festival, Live on the WaterfrontCanada DayTeddy Bears Picnic and Exploring our Routes. Movie Nights on the Waterfront are also featured during the Late Night Series in May and the Family Series in August/September.

Neighbourhood Recreation Program - after-school activities for children aged 5 and up operate from September to June. Sites include a variety of schools and the Canada Games Complex. 

Playgrounds - Supervised programs are offered at a variety of playgrounds within the city during the months of July and August.  

Playgrounds Superkids - Supervised program that offers clinics from cooking to team challenges for kids aged 8-13. 

Outdoor Pools, Supervised Beach & Splash Pad - Lessons, lengths and public swim times are offered at some outdoor pools and the supervised beach at Boulevard Lake during July and August. 

Skating - Learn to Skate and Power Skating programs are offered from September to March for children 3 years of age and up.

Swimming and Swim Lessons - Sir Winston Churchill Community Pool and Volunteer Pool offer learn to swim and lifesaving programs. They also offer Parent and Tot swims. 

Children with Disabilities - Junior Inclusion Services provides support for children with disabilities to participate in Recreation & Culture activities.

Financial Assistance - PRO Kids assists children participate in activities when fees may be out of reach.
