Improved Access to Waterfront: New Traffic Signal at Water and Pearl Streets

January 29, 2007 – On Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 10 am new traffic signals are scheduled to go into operation at the intersection of Water Street and Pearl Street.

The traffic signal will normally rest on a green light for through traffic on Water Street unless there is cross traffic at Pearl Street.  Pedestrian activated push buttons will assist pedestrians crossing at the intersection.  This project was funded by a Transport Canada Grant to enhance road and rail safety.  The new signals will be coordinated with the railway protection gates.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution when using the new signalized intersection, especially during the commissioning period.
