A skate-of-the-art destination! The 2,000 square metre Plaza designed by van der Zalm + associates inc. of BC unofficially opened Nov. 1, 2008. Additional Plaza elements including public art, donor walls and landscaping will be completed in Spring 2009. An official Grand Opening, featuring special events, will be held at that time.

The Plaza was built by Natural Stone and Tile of Thunder Bay, with some specialty concrete work completed by New Line Skate Parks. The Plaza features a unique combination of word-class skateboarding terrain, locally inspired art installations and casual socializing space. It will be set within a vibrant landscape detail designed to capture the spirit of Thunder Bay's renewed Waterfront vision.
Within the development, three destinct areas (bowl, plaza and entrance) offer a range of varied features and materials designed to accommodate each specific skateboarding style/ability while providing excellent passive spectator opportunities.
Once completed, the Plaza will be a significant regional facility in terms of quality of design, detailing and position within premiere urban public space.
