Steve Fonyo: Journey for the Lives

Steve Fonyo was a Canadian man who lost his leg to cancer at the age of 12. Inspired by Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope, he later embarked on a cross-Canada Marathon he called "Journey for the Lives," also hoping to raise money and awareness for cancer research. Unlike Terry Fox, however he completed the coast-to-coast marathon, as well as a journey across the United Kingdom. He began his run on March 31st, 1984 at the age of 18 and completed it May 28th, 2985, covering 7,924 kilometers (4,924 miles) and raising 14 million dollars.
