Public Art

Thunder Bay demonstrates its support of the arts community through a thriving public art program. Throughout the year, the City administers public art competitions that result in the installaion of innovative and creative works by local, regional and national artists.

The collection of outdoor artworks displays a range of styles, techniques and themes influenced by the strong 'sense of place' in Thunder Bay - its spectacular scenery, engaging history, wealth of natural resources, abundant wildlife and inspiring individuals.

The amount and scope of contemporary outdoor artworks is growing. As part of the waterfront redevelopment at Prince Arthur's Landing, a multitude of leading-edge contemporary artworks will be installed - and some will incorporate new media and technologies.

Thunder Bay's outdoor works of art are available year round at any time of the day for enjoyment of visitors and residents alike.
