Chippewa Park & Wildlife Exhibit

Nestled on the shore of Lake Superior, Chippewa Park is your destination for family fun, scenic beauty and relaxation. This 270 acre (110 ha) park features a beautiful beach, restored 1930s pavillion, historic carousel, amusement rides, picnic areas, wildlife park, RV park, campsites, internet cafe, walking trails, fishing spots and an amazing view of the Sleeping Giant. Situated on the edge of the city of Thunder Bay, Chippewa Park provides for a superior, affordable family vacation only 45 minutes from the U.S. border.

This park has been home to a range of amusement rides since the early 1920s. Today, anchored by its historic Carousel, the park boasts a small children's midway with tank, plane and boat rides as well as thrilling rides such as a Tilt-a-Whirl, bumper cars and roller coaster.

The Tourist Camp operates from the 3rd weekend in May to 1st Monday in September. Available for rent are log cabins, RV sites, and tent sites. The camp also includes amenities such as washrooms, showers, laundry facilities, community kitchen, groceries, firewood sales, souvenirs, and internet access. City shoppig and services are also close by.

The Wildlife Park features animals and birds native to Northwestern Ontario such as Moose, Deer, Bears, Eagles, and many others in their natural enrironment. An elevated wheelchair-accessible walkway encircles the spacious animal enclosures and provides visitors with a spectacular viewing opportunity. 

Located east of Hwy. 61 on Chippewa Road at the end of City Road.

Chippewa Park: Year Round
Wildlife Park: June - Monday to Friday 11 am to 4 pm &
            Weekends 11 am to 4 pm
July to Labour Day - 11 am to 8 pm
Tourist Camp: Victoria Day to 1st Monday in September
Amusement Rides: Crowd & Weather permitting
June - Weekends 1 pm to 8 pm
July to Labour Day - Daily 11 am to 8 pm
