Sleeping Giant Loppet

Sleeping Giant Loppet

The Sleeping Giant Loppet (formerly the Sibley Ski Tour) is a mass participation cross country ski event that takes place every year on the first Saturday in March. Held in Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, it provides both recreational and competitive categories and a variety of distances, including the challenging 50km classic or open events, a 35km distance, a 20km loop around Marie Louise Lake, and an 8km mini-Loppet which is perfect for families and new skiers. World class grooming, exceptional organization and services, and stunning scenery make this the iconic winter event in Northwest Ontario.

The Loppet is organized by Thunder Bay Nordic Trails, a non-profit volunteer based organization which maintains ski trails at Kamview Nordic Centre, Kakabeka Falls and Sleeping Giant Provincial Parks.
