Tourism Thunder Bay in partnership with Lois Nuttall of Lake Superior Visits (our local receptive tour operator) hosted the lucky winners of the annual BluesWin contest. The grand prize valued at over $5,000 showcased the best of Thunder Bay including VIP passes to the 10th Annual Blues Festival – one of the most anticipated events of the year - round-trip airfare, car rental, accommodations at the McVicar Manor B&B, harbor sail with Sail Superior, meal vouchers at some of Thunder Bay’s finest restaurants and even unique personal transportation on a Pedi cab supplied by Superior Pedicabs.
The winner Dennis Kennedy from Fenwick, Ontario and his partner, Sandra Cruzo (originally from Thunder Bay) kindly wrote to us upon their return home to share their Thunder Bay experience with us.
“Thank you Tourism Thunder Bay for giving us the opportunity to celebrate a pre-wedding honeymoon! We will be married in Thunder Bay August 6th, 2011 so receiving the Grand Prize in the BluesWin contest was just perfect!
We had a fabulous weekend and the service provided by all of the sponsors was excellent. National Car Rental stayed late on Thursday night to meet our delayed Air Canada flight from Toronto. Lois Nuttall from Lake Superior Visits met us at McVicar Manor on Friday morning, camera in hand with a package of information, sponsor vouchers, words of advice and a friendly greeting.
Dorothy and Tom Walch are the gracious proprietors of McVicar Manor and they provided exemplary, classy service and first rate accommodations. Gord Soloway and his daughter Elizabeth tested their strength toting us between the Manor, Lot 66 and the festival grounds. What a great service given by two very personable people!
Dinners at Lot 66 and The Prospector restaurants were excellent with fine food and great service provided by chef/owner Mike Roulston, owner Bianca Garofalo and staff at Lot 66 and manager Joyce and staff at the Prospector. We attended as much of the Blues Festival as possible, what a fabulous group of local, Canadian and International stars comprising the line-up for the weekend! We have to say that the VIP access to 'on the grounds' parking and a tent was very much appreciated on Saturday!
Captain Greg Heroux of Sail Superior conducted a memorable harbour tour and it was very interesting to see Thunder Bay from that perspective.
Thank you again Thunder Bay, you are in our hearts and we will certainly be entering the contest again next year!”
