Thunder Bay has a full service International Airport which can accommodate big commercial planes to small regional carriers. Thunder Bay is the third busiest airport in Ontario (behind Toronto and Ottawa) serving over a half million passengers annually. The Airport is the first in Canada to remove its airport improvement fee.

Thunder Bay's air service connects with direct flights to Minneapolis in the south, Winnipeg and Calgary in the west and Toronto and Ottawa in the east.

Thunder Bay is also a regional hub for Northern Ontario and Northwestern Ontario, with regional carriers flying direct to Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Dryden, Fort Frances, Kenora and Sioux Lookout.
