Tourism Thunder Bay Visitor Centre Hours
Tourism Thunder Bay invites you start the New Year by bringing your visitors to Terry Fox Information Centre during the winter months. Here, your guests can learn about what there is to see and do in our city while visiting the Terry Fox Memorial with lovely views of the Sleeping Giant. During the month of January the Terry Fox Information Centre will be open 9am-5pm daily. The Centre will be closed for New Years on January 1st resuming regular winter hours on the 2nd.

The Terry Fox Information Centre is located on Highway 11/17 - 1 kilometer east of Hodder Avenue or 1 kilometre west of Spruce River Road.

Thunder Bay Symphony Performances
Immerse yourself in the renowned acoustics of the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium where the TBSO and brilliant guest artists will guide you on a journey through the world’s greatest music, past and present. The Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra will be holding the following events in January:

Fort William Gardens Events

David Thompson Astronomical Observatory is Now Open
Whether you’re a serious astronomer or the casual observer, you’ll find that the David Thompson Astronomical Observatory is a marvel of modern space science. Come and explore galaxies, nebulas, star clusters and planets, just minutes away from Thunder Bay! Sky Walks are held Wednesday through Saturday evening at 7:30 pm.

Make Thunder Bay’s waterfront your destination this January and experience the magic of a true winter.

Experience the City’s outdoor art gallery at the waterfront. Download the Waterfront Public Art Walking Tour Guide from or pick up a copy at the Baggage Building Art Centre or from the Community & Emergency Services front desk in the Victoriaville Civic Centre. The Skating Rink at Prince Arthur’s Landing is now open for the season. The rink is open noon to 9pm, 7 days a week and will offer a concession service. For more information, visit or call (807) 625-2080.

Enjoy the majestic scenery of the waterfront while enjoying a wonderful meal and a fine beverage at Thunder Bay’s new waterfront restaurant - Bight Restaurant and Bar.  The restaurant prides itself on serving local produce and ales on their menu.
