Tourism Thunder Bay's Terry Fox Information Centre Open Through Winter

Superior Outdoors Cover Captures Top Photography Prize

Superior Outdoors magazine has won top journalism honours at the Ontario Tourism awards, the province’s most prestigious tourism award gala, for the Summer 2008 cover photo. The winning photo titled, “Paddling in the Lake Superior Marine Conservation Area,” was taken by Gary and Joanie McGuffin. Focusing on the area’s brilliant colours, the photo captures the serenity and beauty of Lake Superior.

Superior Outdoors magazine is published in Thunder Bay and was founded by Darren and Michelle McChristie in 2007. Gammondale Farm Smashing Pumpkins Nov.1
Grab your pumpkin and come on down to Gammondale Farm for the 2nd Annual Pumpkin Smashing Day. Cost is $3.50/person. Christmas is coming as well and Gammondale Farm is booking Christmas Sleigh Rides. Reservations are always required. Black Percheron horses pull the old fashioned sleigh, and there is a warm Homestead Cabin for your party.

Cambrian Players and Paramount Theatre Presents “Halo”
Between Nov 12-14 and 19-21, Cambrian Players is presenting “Halo”, written by Josh MacDonald and directed by Kathryn Ferrazzo, at the Paramount Theatre. Come out to see how life in Nately, Nova Scotia is forever changed when an image of Jesus Christ appears on the side of a Tim Horton's Restaurant. Watch as citizens are challenged to ask difficult questions about faith, hope, and customer service with some interesting results. Tickets are $10 for the Preview show on Nov. 12 with tickets available at the door only. Tickets for all other shows are $15 and are available at Fireweed, Steepers or at the door. Don’t Miss the 19th Annual Christmas Parade – Nov 21

History Comes to Life at the Thunder Bay Museum

  • Until Dec. 7: Acrylic Painting on Canvas. Learn how to adapt watercolour techniques to acrylic, and methods adapted from oil painting with instructor Peggy Moran. Classes are from 6 - 9:30 pm.
  • Nov. 21: Everything you wanted to know about getting your book published ... and beyond. This three hour introductory workshop will be led by best-selling author and journalist/photographer Elle Andra-Warner, owner of River Rocks Publishing. Workshop is from 1 - 4 pm.

Chenier Fine Arts, the Purple Gallery
Located at 8 Court St S., the Purple Gallery showcases a diverse selection of original art created by established and emerging Canadian, regional and international artists.
