Tourism Thunder Bay Launches " Seven days with the giant" contest for 2009!

The City of Thunder Bay - Tourism Division, along with over 15 different regional tourism partners, is once again launching "Seven Days With the Giant", last year's exceptionally popular contest that gives one winner and three lucky friends a 7 day experience of a lifetime to Thunder Bay and Sleeping Giant Provincial Park, valued at over $20,000. Three secondary prizes of a weekend for two in the city will also be awarded. Canadian film promotion - One week

CANADIAN FILM features Thunder Bay's Terry Fox Monument!

Be sure to catch ONE WEEK in threatres across Canada starting March 6th. This Canadian film features Thunder Bay's iconic Terry Fox Monument in the film.

When a young man is confronted with his mortality, he takes a cross-country road trip on a vintage motorcycle. ONE WEEK tells the story of Ben Tyler (Joshua Jackson), in his mid-twenties, who flees from the confines of his life—an impending marriage, a job he’s not entirely happy with and a recent diagnosis—in order to attempt to live more fully. Major Events


Sleeping Giant Provincial Park is snuggled under a thick blanket of snow awaiting the excitement of the newly renamed Sleeping Giant Loppet. Formerly the Sibley Ski Tour, this mass participation cross country ski event will take place on March 7, 2009. The 10 and 20 km distances are perfect for recreational skiers and families, while more serious competitors can take part in the 50 km event in either the classic or free technique categories. A $1000 cash prize will be awarded to the top male and female finisher in the 50 km free event. This year, participants can also choose a 35 km distance that winds over the Pickerel Lake and Burma Trails before finishing back at the Lake Marie Louise Campground. Magnus Theatre invites you down to their theatre to take in one of their productions playing during the month of March.
Until March 14 - Looking by Norm Foster: Val’s a nurse, Andy’s in the storage business, Nina’s a police officer and Matt’s a radio morning show host. They’re middle-aged, single and looking. Val answers Andy’s personal ad in the newspaper and a date is set. Nina and Matt are coaxed into joining their friends for support.

Between March 18th and 21st, Definitely Superior Art Gallery Invite you down to their studio at 250 Park Avenue during the month of March to take in their 3rd annual "urban Infill-Art In The Core" 20 project series with their "Urban Unfill" Downtown -Wide Art Exhibition.  The series encourages Thunder Bay downtown revitalization by presenting mutli-disciplinary regional, national, and international contemporary art during a 4-day exhibit at the art gallery commercial art galleries/artist studios, and by converting empty reatil spaces into temporary art galleries.  Pick up a copy of your Art Map at Definitely Superior Art Gallery for your studios.  Here are some highlights of the 4 day event:

Fort William Historical Park would like to offer you sleigh rides, education and community programs with spots still available in all.
