Centennial Park

Girl Enjoys Centennial Park

Centennial Park offers something for everyone!  Discover the 1910 Logging Camp and Museum, the playground and the farm animals. The park boasts a year-round chalet with a concession and indoor picnic area. Hiking/cross-country ski trails follow the Current River through Centennial and  Trowbridge Falls Parks to join the Cascades Conservation Area. Sleigh rides and toboggan slides are offered in winter. 

Centennial Park covers approximately 147 acres (60 ha) along the shores of the beautiful Current River in the heart of the City's north side, and is open year round.

Summer Activities - Muskeg Express Train Ride ($), 1910 logging camp, public chalet, craft shop, picnic tables, barn with animals, playground area, and recreation trails

Winter Activities - Sleigh rides ($), sliding hill, toboggan slides, public chalet, cross-country ski trails 


Chalet

Hours:
June to September Labour Day weekend (Summer season): 8 am - 7 pm
September Labour Day to May (Winter season): 8 am - 4 pm

Information:
The Chalet is open to the public, and cannot be booked for parties/events. Please, no alcohol or helium balloons in the Chalet.


Muskeg Express Train Ride

Hours (weather permitting):
June (weekends only): 12 noon to 4 pm
July to September Labour Day weekend (Wednesday to Sunday only): 12 noon to 4 pm

Prices:
Ages 5 & under - Free
Ages 6 to 14 - $1.00/each
Ages15 & over - $2.50/each

Muskeg Express Train Ride payments are to be made only at Centennial Park on the day of the booking.

Information:
The Muskeg Express Train Ride will not run in drizzle or rain. Rides are 10-15 minutes long; 20 people can fit on one ride.

If a school/group wishes to book a ride, please contact the Facility Booking Coordinator, (807) 625-2941, to make a booking in the month of June.


Sleigh RidesHorses - Centennial Park

Hours (weather and snow permitting):
Mid-December to Mid-March: 10 am - 6 pm

Note: No Sleigh Rides are booked on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day

Prices:
$115.00 + $14.95 HST = $129.95/hour, booked on the hour. 

Information:
Please arrive 1/2 hour before your sleigh ride booking. Keep in mind that each ride only holds up to 20 adults. If you have more people, the ride will be split into two 1/2 hour sessions.

All sleigh ride bookings should be made at least three days in advance and paid before the sleigh ride takes place. Payments can be made by phone or at the Parks Division office located in the Victoriaville Civic Centre (Victoriaville Mall).

Firesmart
A FireSmart demonstration project within Centennial Park was initiated in 2011. The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources’ FireSmart program helps communities and homeowners take action and protect their properties and adjacent natural resources from the risk of wildfires.  Find out more

Stewardship Plan
In 2010, the City of Thunder Bay Parks Division retained KBM Forestry Consultants to develop a Stewardship Plan for the forest within Centennial Park and Trowbridge Falls Park to ensure the long-term health and sustainability of the area.
