Public Open House: Share Input on McKellar Neighbourhood Programming Opportunities

Posted On Thursday February 07, 2019

The City of Thunder Bay’s Recreation & Culture Division invites residents to join them for a public consultation session to discuss programming opportunities for the McKellar neighbourhood.

“We are looking to connect with residents and find out what types of opportunities would resonate with them,” said Kelly Robertson, General Manager – Community Services. “Being able to develop programming specific to a neighbourhood is a great opportunity. We can tailor activities to the needs and interests of those who live there.”

The goal of neighbourhood programming is to encourage active living, community belonging and inclusion, and facilitate access to recreation and culture opportunities which may not have been previously available. Customized programming has the benefits of both enriching the lives of participants while enhancing the overall community wellbeing.

The open house session will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, in the lobby of the Fort William Gardens. Everyone is encouraged to attend to give their ideas and feedback.

The information gathered, along with feedback from consultations with area schools and local recreation organizations, will help City staff develop year-round recreational program opportunities throughout the McKellar neighbourhood.
